FACILITIES
In July 2008, Tufts Gordon Institute relocated to
expanded and upgraded facilities located approximately
one half-mile north of Tufts’ Medford campus at 200
Boston Avenue.
The 5000 square foot facility is a self-contained suite
which includes two classrooms with state-of-the-art AV
technology, three breakout areas equipped with LCD flat
panel displays, a kitchen and dining area with plenty of
seating and a lounge space where students can relax or
work together. The entire suite has wireless internet
access and the main classroom has power connections for
laptops at each seat. This integrated and upgraded
facility provides a comfortable, professional atmosphere
for students, faculty and staff. Free parking,
conveniently located directly in front of the building,
is an added bonus.
The move to the 200 Boston Avenue location was a
strategic one. It situates Tufts Gordon Institute in the
same building as the School of Engineering’s "technology
incubator", the Advanced Technology Laboratory (ATL).
The ATL serves as an interdisciplinary research facility
where science and various engineering disciplines
collaborate to work on complex problems and it also
houses a variety of entrepreneurial, Tufts-spawned
technology companies such as Serica Technologies Inc.
The co-location of the technology incubator and Tufts
Gordon Institute makes perfect sense given Tufts Gordon
Institute’s focus on both engineering and
entrepreneurial leadership and the School of
Engineering's goal to create a collaborative,
interdisciplinary environment from which many synergies
can develop.
