For more than two decades, we have provided students with the knowledge and skills they need to lead teams, and entire companies. Both our graduate and undergraduate engineering management and entrepreneurship programs are taught by faculty who have excelled in industry, have started and run their own companies and know what it takes to succeed in the business world.

Founding the Gordon Institute

Bernard Gordon, founder and former CEO and chairman of Analogic Corporation and cofounder and chairman of NeuroLogica Corp., founded Tufts Gordon Institute, the first educational institution designed specifically to develop engineering leaders.

First Graduating Class

The first class of seven students graduates from The Gordon Institute.

NEASC Accreditation

The NEASC accredits The Gordon Institute to confer the degree of Master of Science in Engineering Management.

Tufts University

The Gordon Institute becomes part of Tufts University.

Entrepreneurial Leadership Program

Tufts’ Entrepreneurial Leadership Program becomes part of the Gordon Institute. In doing so, Tufts Gordon Institute broadens its mission to encompass innovation and entrepreneurship as well as engineering leadership.

Tufts Gordon Institute Today

Today, our M.S. in Engineering Management is a nationally recognized business management program for practicing engineers and other technical professionals. In 2007, Tufts Gordon Institute was awarded the National Academy of Engineering Prize in Innovation in Engineering and Technology Education.

Currently, 164 students from 90 different companies are enrolled in the M.S. in Engineering Management program. The students represent a broad range of industries including defense, biotech, healthcare, medical instrumentation, electronics, telecom, computer hardware/software and energy. The more than 800 alumni of Tufts Gordon Institute’s graduate engineering management program are having a real impact on the engineering profession at successful organizations around the world. In 2016, we launched a one-year, full-time, M.S. in Innovation & Management program. Focused on recent STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) graduates, the program combines lean and design-centric approaches to innovation along with business knowledge to give students the skills to drive high-impact innovation.

The Entrepreneurial Leadership Program enrolls more than 500 undergraduate students each year in courses ranging from entrepreneurial marketing to business law. More than 200 students have completed a minor in Entrepreneurial Leadership since the program debuted in 2002. The program continues to evolve as a dynamic learning center, providing an education designed to prepare future entrepreneurial leaders.
