APPLICATION DEADLINE
We encourage you to apply as early as possible. The application deadline for International applicants for Fall 2007 enrollment is March 2, 2007. Late applications will be accepted on a space available basis only. The Gordon Institute cannot review your application until all the required materials are received.

THE APPLICATION PROCESS
Please gather the following materials and mail them to The Gordon Institute.

  • Application Fee: The $65 application fee can be paid by check, money order, or bank draft in US dollars, drawn on an American bank. If a friend or relative in the US is able to pay this fee for you, it's best to include the check with your application. If that's not possible, please ask your sponsor to write "Application fee for (your full name)" on the check.

  • Application Form: Complete the application and sign and date the back of the form. Application forms are available on-line at http://gordon.tufts.edu/admisApplyApply.htm

  • Letters of Recommendation: Obtain two confidential letters of recommendation in sealed envelopes with your evaluator's signature across the seal. Do not open this envelope; include it unopened with your application. Letter of recommendation forms are available on-line at http://gordon.tufts.edu/admisApplyApply.htm

  • Academic Records: Obtain official academic records (transcripts or mark sheets) in sealed envelopes for each year of post-secondary education (college or university), as well as official copies of degrees awarded. Copies of credentials must be validated by a school officer, such as a registrar, and must be attached to a certified English translation. Do not open these envelopes; include them unopened with your application.
    Mail your application materials to:

In order for us to receive the score report, you must use the Tufts University Graduate School code number 3901 as one of the score recipients. Student copies or photocopies of your TOEFL score are not accepted.

For students who speak a language other tan English as their native language, a score of 550 (or 213 CBT) points or higher on the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) is required. Application forms and information about TOEFL test dates can be obtained from many U.S. consulates, USIA consulates, USIA centers, and TOEFL centers overseas or by writing to:

    4. Financial Aid: The Gordon Institute has very limited financial aid available. Generally, we offer one or two scholarships per year in an incoming class of about 40 students. Therefore, we suggest you make a copy of the application and those documents which are not confidential for your records.
    6. Retention of application folders: The applications of those who are admitted but decline to accept, and of those not admitted, are kept for one year from the date the admissions decision is rendered, and may be reactivated for review with submission of a new application form.

IF YOU'RE ACCEPTED

  • Enrollment Confirmation: You must return your enrollment decision form by the date indicated on the form. Along with your official letter of acceptance, you will receive a Financial Declaration for Visa Issuance form and an Estimate of Expenses. The Financial Declaration form must be completed and returned directly to the International Center at Tufts.

  • Financial Certification: Foreign students must verify that they have the financial ability to cover their educational and living expenses. An estimate of tuition and living expenses for international students in the Gordon Institute program for the 2006-2007 academic year is approximately $50,838 for the 1-year program ($31,530 for tuition and fees plus $19,308 for living expenses) and $35,628 per year for the 2-year program ($16,320 per year for tuition and fees plus $19,308 per year for living expenses).

In order to obtain permission to bring a spouse, a student must have $4,330 on deposit in an American bank for the spouse's support. The amount required for permission to bring a child is $3,000 per child. The deposit must be authenticated by a notarized statement from the bank where it has been deposited.

An international student who is not awarded financial assistance will not be granted final admission until he or she can demonstrate the ability to support himself or herself while at Tufts and to pay the expenses for traveling both to and from this country. In certain cases the International Center may require a sponsor to deposit tuition in the university's account prior to issuing a visa.

  • Health Insurance and Health Fee: All Tufts University international students are required to purchase the Tufts University health insurance plan to comply with Massachusetts law. For more detailed information on this, please visit the Tufts University Health Services website , specifically the section on "Insurance Information", which is listed on the right hand side of their main page. For follow-up questions on this topic, please contact them at 617-627-3350.

  • Tufts International Center: International students who need visa assistance are admitted to Tufts University only as full-time students. The Tufts International Center will issue you your form I-20 or your form IAP-66 and offer you assistance while you attend The Gordon Institute.
