John Hodgman
Lecturer, ELS 101 Entrepreneurship & Business Planning,
ELS 193 Special Topics
Since his retirement in 2001 as President and CEO of the
Massachusetts Technology Development Corporation (MTDC),
Mr. Hodgman has focused his professional activities on
teaching entrepreneurship and assisting non-profit
organizations that deal with education and career
development. He is the Howard Foley professor for High
Tech Workforce Development at University of
Massachusetts-Lowell's School of Engineering, where he
is focusing on a statewide initiative to encourage more
students to major in science, technology, engineering
and mathematics. Prior to his 17 years leading MTDC, he
was CEO of Stewart Systems Corporation, CEO of the
Massachusetts Employment Security Agency, and Director
of Personnel Management for Coopers & Lybrand-New
England. Mr. Hodgman earned a B.A., magna cum laude,
from Boston College and attended the University of
Virginia Law School before serving in the United States
Air Force Reserve.
