Why did you choose to pursue a M.S. in Engineering Management at Tufts?
While searching for a graduate program to attain the skills I needed to move forward in my career, I discovered the Tufts Gordon Institute MSEM program and realized that it was not only the right program for me to close the gap between where I am now and where I see myself in the future, but also an exceptional fit for me personally.
The Gordon Institute’s focus on leadership could provide me with a better understanding of the leadership principles and management strategies needed to manage others effectively. This, together with learning the nuances of businesses administration necessary to succeed in a leadership position, would help me to judge my company’s interests and successfully balance those interests with the company’s human resources. Finally, the quantitative methods portion of the MSEM curriculum would give me the knowledge needed to make important business decisions based on reliable data analysis.
Overall, the faculty of engineering industry leaders, the chance to work alongside like-minded individuals, and the opportunity to practice and improve upon the skills that I would learn about through classroom exercises and real-world projects are all reasons why I knew that this program was right for me.
What was your favorite part of the Tufts MSEM experience?
My favorite part of the Tufts MSEM experience was working alongside and getting to know all of the other students in my cohort. It was an extremely enlightening experience to work so closely with so many other people from such a variety of backgrounds spanning across many industries. This exposure helped me learn how to work with people from other engineering backgrounds and how to approach problems from a completely different point of view. More importantly, the cohort structure of the Tufts MSEM program led to strong friendships that I expect to continue.
