Where were you in your career and what drove your decision to go back to school?
When I first started working, I didn’t really know how to contribute more than just doing my assigned tasks. For a couple of years, I coasted along trying to understand how to make an impact. In the last couple of years, I have begun to figure out how to be successful at my workplace rather than just being “another engineer.” I was also nominated into my work’s Engineering Leadership Development Program. Around that time, a friend mentioned that she was interested in attending an info session for this Tufts program. Since I was working on being more of a “Yes Man”, I said, “Why not?”. The info session mentioned that the application fee would be waived and that no GRE score was needed, so I said, “Why not?”. I was accepted into the Tufts program, so I said, “Why not?”.

Why did you choose to pursue a M.S. in Engineering Management at Tufts?
I was intrigued by the idea of how this program integrated its classes together. Rather than the traditional model of taking individual classes, this program breaks down classes into smaller “modules”, and attempts to link the modules together with a semester project.

Another positive was the cohort structure. Having a group of people go through this program with you definitely enhances the overall experience. They are not just “other people in the classroom with you.”
