Where were you in your career and what drove your decision to go back to school?

“I am early on in my career. I have worked for two and a half years since graduation. Working for a small, rapidly growing company, has provided me opportunities for personal growth. This is because there is a lot of responsibility and work with a lack of manpower. I wanted to make sure I had the skills to help my company grow. A masters in a strict engineering field would have not help. Beyond helping my company I wanted to make sure I was a well-rounded engineer with a strong business sense. A degree in Engineering Management will, and has, provided that.”

What is your favorite part of the Tufts MSEM experience so far?

“My favorite part of the MSEM experience so far is the immediate applicability of the skilled that are developed. Time is spend learning about creating the best group dynamics, addressing and analyzing market opportunities, dealing with emotional charged situations, and learning how to lead. These skills are extremely important and while can be read in a book, are best cultured through experiences. The classes provide great case studies and group exercises that ingrain the lessons needed to be successful at the skills taught. I have already been able to start to apply some of these skills at work and have seen positive results.”
