In today’s unpredictable, fast-moving business environment, project management can make or break a product launch or a master plan. It also can have a profound impact on the course of a company—or a career. Project Management Strategies & Methodologies is a learning-in-action experience that gives you the tools, techniques, and confidence to keep large-scale, time-sensitive projects on track and on time. You also will learn how to implement agile methodologies to manage projects with complex requirements and high levels of change.
How it works
Dynamic, hands-on, and team-oriented, Project Management Strategies & Methodologies is a singular opportunity to learn project management by doing project management. With the skills and knowledge you gain in this course, you will prepare a plan for a real-world project, including sub-plans for scope, stakeholders, cost, schedule, procurement, human resources, risk, quality, communications, and integration. You will see firsthand what works and what doesn’t, learning from your own project and from the projects of your classmates. You also will discover how effective agile methodologies are when deployed in a coordinated, team-centered organizational culture. And if you are planning to pursue the Project Management Professional (PMP®) credential, this course will help you prepare for the exam.

As a student in Project Management Strategies & Methodologies, you will learn to initiate new projects and lead them to completion with these key capabilities:
- Identify project stakeholders and document their needs
- Create a scope statement and construct a work breakdown structure
- Develop time and cost estimates
- Build a project network diagram and identify the critical path(s)
- Create a communications plan
- Discover process waste in projects
- Identify risks and perform risk response planning
- Use earned value method to monitor and report project progress
- Learn your way around essential project management and risk management software
- Choose a waterfall or iterative project lifecycle based on project characteristics
- Initiate new projects and lead them to completion
