Tufts Gordon Institute’s Professional Education program makes it possible for busy technical professionals like you to fit critical learning experiences into your life. And, applying to take a class is a simple, streamlined process.

Application Timeline

Enrollment after the deadlines is possible on a space available basis, up to the first day of class. Each course's start date is provided on the course description pages. Please contact Tufts Gordon Institute Admissions if the deadline has passed and you are interested in enrolling in Professional Education course.

  • Summer 2018 Enrollment - June 4, 2018
  • Fall 2018 Enrollment - September 1, 2018
  • Spring 2019 Enrollment - January 15, 2019

Who Should Apply?

Applicants for Professional Education:

  • Are required to have a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.

  • It is also recommended that applicants have an undergraduate degree in a STEM field – science, technology, engineering. Applicants with non-STEM backgrounds may also be eligible to enroll if they have the requisite background to be successful in the course.  If you are interested in enrolling in a professional education course but are uncertain whether you meet the enrollment requirements, please contact Tufts Gordon Institute Admissions to discuss your specific situation.

  • Courses are open to US citizens and permanent residents, and F2 and H1B visa holders.

If you are interested in enrolling in a professional education course at Tufts Gordon Institute but are uncertain as to whether you have the requisite educational background or work experience, please contact a member of our admissions staff to discuss your specific situation.

How to Apply

Professional Education courses are open to current Tufts students as well as professionals who are not currently enrolled in a graduate program at Tufts. If you have questions on the application process or whether you meet the enrollment requirements for the course, please contact Tufts Gordon Institute admissions.

Current Tufts students: Visit SIS, and select "EM-Engineering Management" to review course options and register.

Tufts employees: Apply directly through Tufts University’s Tuition Remission program. Your tuition remission form and a copy of your academic transcripts should be sent to Rebekah Plotkin.

Professionals: Apply through Tufts University’s Graduate Career Advancement Program (GCAP). Instructions are provided below.

1. Register for a GCAP application account at: asegrad.tufts.edu/academics/gcap. Please note that the GCAP application can only be accessed through this link.   After registering via this link, you will automatically be routed to the GCAP application.

2. On the GCAP Application Information page, enter the term for which you are applying (Fall/Spring; Year) and select the 'Gordon Institute Professional Education' special program from the drop down menu as shown below.  

3. To complete the application, you’ll also need to provide:

  • A brief statement describing your reasons for enrolling in the course (short paragraph of about 4-5 sentences)
  • The course name/number for which you are applying (if you are applying for more than one course, please enter all names/course numbers in the space provided)
  • A copy of your undergraduate transcript. Unofficial copies are accepted.
  • A copy of your F2 or H1B visa if applicable.

4. After you submit your application, it will be reviewed by our admissions staff and you will be notified of your approval to enroll by email.

Registration and Payment

Once you have been approved to enroll in the course, you will receive an email with information on how to log into our online student portal and pay the tuition via credit card, bank transfer or check. Payment is due at the time of registration.

Tufts Gordon Institute will contact you before the course begins to provide you with details on the class logistics such as the room location, required books and materials as well as any other special instructions for the specific course in which you are enrolled.

Admissions Policies

  • Professional Education students who are accepted to the M.S. in Engineering Management program can apply up six credits earned as a professional education student toward the modules required to earn the MSEM degree. Please contact the admissions team if you would like further information on how the PE courses apply to the M.S. in Engineering Management degree requirements.
  • Tufts University employees do not need to apply to take Professional Education courses through this process. You should apply directly through Tufts University’s Tuition Remission program.
