Tuition & Expenses

  • Estimated Tuition (2022-23): $54,304*

Starting in the Fall 2022 semester, the School of Engineering will be billing newly enrolled, full-time and part-time master’s students by credit hours. At the current per-credit tuition rate for the 2022-2023 academic year of $1,697, the total cost to complete the 32 credits required to earn the MSEM degree is $54,304. Financial Aid & Loans

In addition to scholarships, financing options typically include personal resources, educational loans and company tuition reimbursement. Since both the MSEM and MSIM are professional master’s programs, Tufts University’s Gordon Institute does not offer any research or teaching assistantships to students.

  • Many students are eligible to have their tuition covered by their company's tuition reimbursement programs. We encourage students to reach out to their Human Resources department and manager to understand if there is an available benefit, what the requirements are, any caps for the amount reimbursed, and the deadlines for submitting paperwork. To view payment plans, loans, and third-party billing options that may be available in conjunction with tuition reimbursement, visit Tufts University's Student Financial Services website.

  • Low-interest Federal Direct Loans, Federal Perkins Loans, and Federal Work Study programs are administered by Tufts Student Financial Services which maintains information on all federal programs as well as alternative forms of financing such as non-need based loans.

Federal aid is available for U.S. citizens and permanent residents only. To apply for Federal Direct loans and/or Federal Work Study, complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The form is available online at www.fafsa.ed.gov, and the Tufts University Institution code is 002219.

Students who will finance all or part of the tuition costs can obtain information on student loan programs through the Tufts University Office of Financial Aid website, the Dowling Student Services Center at Tufts University at 617-627-2000 or by email at studentservices@ase.tufts.edu

  • Various part-time jobs are available at Tufts University under regular student employment budgets and, for those who qualify, the Federal Work-Study (FWS) Program. Students with jobs typically work between 8-12 hours a week both on and off campus. International students with an F-1 visa may work up to 20 hours a week on campus.
