Real-World Professors: Tufts Gordon Institute Appoints Three New Professors of the Practice
Tufts University has established the position of Professor of the Practice in order to bring prominent industry practitioners to campus to teach our students. The expertise of these truly outstanding individuals, whose accomplishments are principally in non-academic venues, complements the current faculty’s research and educational and scholarly work.
Tufts Gordon Institute is pleased to announce the appointment of three distinguished Professors of the Practice: Partha S. Ghosh, Sam Liggero and Charlie Rabie. They join Dr. Arthur Winston, who was appointed as a Professor of the Practice in 2006. The real-world experience of these distinguished industry experts will add tremendous value to the M.S. in Engineering Management program:
Partha Ghosh, Professor of the Practice
Partha Ghosh received his Bachelors of Technology from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) in Kharagpur, India in 1971, and subsequently his M.S. in Chemical Engineering from MIT. He also earned his M.B.A. at MIT’s Sloan School in 1977. Partha worked at Union Carbide in Calcutta and MIT’s Energy Lab before beginning a career at McKinsey & Company, a management and technology consulting firm, splitting his time largely between New York and Tokyo. He founded his own consulting firm in 1989. He has served as a lecturer at the Tufts Gordon Institute since 2006. In addition to teaching, Partha will help to develop strategies for international corporate engagement to leverage TGI’s academic platform internationally.
Sam Liggero, Professor of the Practice
Sam Liggero received his B.S. in Chemistry from Fordham University in 1964 and his Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from Georgetown University in 1968. He worked as an NIH Postdoctoral Fellow at Princeton before engaging in a diverse career with the Polaroid Corporation that spanned over 30 years. During that time, he directed various divisions such as R&D, product engineering, and customer service. Sam recently co-founded a wireless technology company named AirPrint Networks. He has served as a part-time lecturer in Tufts’ Department of Chemical & Biological Engineering for the past several years.
Charlie Rabie, Professor of the Practice
Charlie Rabie has enjoyed a successful 30-year career in the high technology field and has served in a variety of leadership and entrepreneurial roles. Much of his work has been global in scope. Charlie received his B.S. and M.S. degrees in Computer Science from Concordia University in 1974 and 1976 respectively. In addition to his corporate experience, Charlie has taught at McGill University and has been a vital member of the Tufts Gordon Institute faculty since 2006, focusing on project management and business strategy. He currently consults for several startup companies, and is on the Board of Directors of GardaWorld USA, a company with 50,000 employees specializing in cash collection and management, and security services.
