On-Campus MS in Engineering Management Accepted Student Resources
Welcome to the On-Campus MS in Engineering Management Program!
We look forward to having you join the Tufts graduate student community! Whether you're considering your enrollment in the On-Campus MSEM program or looking for resources to start your journey, please check out the information and action items below. We hope this helps get you started, excited, and prepared for your Tufts graduate experience.
Please review the On-Campus MSEM New Student Checklist, and take the necessary steps, including creating your Tufts email and password (which unlock access to multiple systems).
We also encourage you to review the School of Engineering Admitted Student Information page. This page has a lot of useful information about resources at Tufts, including academic resources, accessibility services, and financial aid.
You will be receiving additional details on how to prepare for your fall classes via your Tufts email shortly before classes start in August. This includes pre-work that is assigned prior to the start of each class. This summer, we'll also give you access to a student portal that will be an all-inclusive resource for your Tufts student experience.
If you have any questions in the meantime, we are here to help! You can contact the TGI Administrative team at firstname.lastname@example.org for assistance.
All incoming students must submit an original official/final transcript prior to matriculation. This transcript must be sealed and sent directly to Tufts University. Please see your acceptance package for complete information and requirements for sending your transcript. Electronic transcripts are accepted but MUST be emailed from the issuing University directly to email@example.com.
Orientation will provide you with the opportunity to meet fellow students, faculty, and staff, as well as learn more about Tufts resources and what to expect the first week of class. On-Campus MSEM Orientation is required for all incoming On-Campus MSEM students. Later this summer, you will receive additional information about orientation as well as a link to RSVP via email.
You do not need to attend the School of Engineering Orientation, although you can if you’d like. The relevant information will also be shared at the MSEM program orientation.
Class Schedule and Registration
The On-Campus MSEM program consists of integrated courses and courses do NOT follow the standard Tufts Academic Calendar. View the MSEM class dates for the Academic Year 2021-2022 here.
The linked calendar above is organized by cohort.
Beginning in early August, you can register for courses in the Student Information portal (SIS). You will receive an email with instructions on what to register for and how to register for classes later this summer. Please review the On-Campus curriculum page for information regarding the curriculum and course listings.
For students enrolling in Fall 2021, evening classes are held from 6pm - 9pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays throughout the duration of the core courses. Electives are offered at various times.
Billing and Payment of Tuition
The On-Campus MSEM program is billed at a per-credit rate. Tuition is due at the start of the academic semester. Visit the tuition page for more information on current rates.
Fall semester bills are issued in July and due in August. Tufts Bursar’s Office will send an official E-Bill along with instructions on how to pay in July.
MSEM students have the option to pay their bill using bank transfer, wire, a monthly installment plan, or student loans. More information on the payment plan and how to submit a payment can be found here.
Please note that the monthly payment plan allows students to spread their annual educational expenses over ten months. One semester’s costs would be paid over five months. Payments begin on May 15 for the fall semester and October 15 for the spring semester, so it is important to enroll early. The deadline to enroll is BEFORE the start of the semester. Enroll online.
Many students are eligible to have their tuition covered by their company tuition reimbursement programs. We encourage students to reach out to their Human Resources department and manager to understand the process and available benefit. Students should inquire if there is an available benefit, what the requirements are, and the deadlines for submitting paperwork. Knowing deadlines is especially important for the fall semester, as sometimes the internal company deadline is prior to classes ending.
If you are eligible for reimbursement, you can request to defer your tuition as needed. Tuition would be due 30 days after grades are issued at the end of the semester. Students need to submit a copy of their company reimbursement policy in order to show eligibility.
Please keep in mind that although you are signing the Employer Deferred Payment Agreement, you are ultimately responsible for paying your tuition, not your employer. It is very important that you speak to your HR representatives about your tuition reimbursement benefits, and make sure that you are eligible before you sign the agreement.
Please file the form as soon as possible with TGI's administrative team (firstname.lastname@example.org). A copy of the form can be found on the MSEM Student Information Portal, which you can access after creating your Tufts email.
Students are subject to all Tufts University, School of Engineering and Tufts Gordon Institute policies. You should familiarize yourself with the graduate student handbook and the MSEM Program Handbook. A copy of the handbook is posted on the MSEM Student Information Portal prior to orientation.
All Tufts students are required by law to have an active health insurance plan. If you are an international or domestic student and are not covered by a U.S. health plan, you will need to purchase health insurance either through Tufts or privately. To purchase insurance, please contact the Tufts Health Services team to determine and file appropriate forms with Health Services (617-627-5176).
From the Digital Design Studio to the Music Library and extensive digital & physical catalogs, the Tisch Library is a treasure trove of resources for Tufts students. They also host workshops throughout the year on topics like research, copyright, and publishing.
