MS in Engineering Management

Preparing leaders for the new world of work.

A re-envisioned MSEM and bold step forward.

In Spring 2022, Tufts Gordon Institute will launch a redesigned MSEM that leverages the best of our award-winning On-Campus and Online MSEM programs, re-envisioned into a single, top-tier graduate program that prepares leaders for the new world of work. Not only does the Tufts MSEM deliver relevant content and practical skills you need to thrive in an increasingly complex and rapidly changing world, it also provides you with an exceptional part-time graduate experience that you can fit into your busy life.

The freedom to choose 100% online or hybrid learning.

Engage in best-in-class online learning: The Tufts MSEM features a fully online core curriculum and a robust lineup of online elective courses that provide you with the best of both worlds – the ability to learn on your own schedule along with opportunities to virtually collaborate and connect through team projects, optional live class sessions, individualized leadership coaching, and community events. With small class sizes, personal attention from faculty, and a dedicated administrative team to support you, you're not an IP address; you’re a Tufts graduate student engaged in an interactive and rigorous learning experience.

Create a hybrid experience with optional on-campus opportunities: Incorporate in-person learning into your program of study and earn credits toward your degree through our immersive experiences. You’ll join classmates, faculty, and industry experts on the Tufts campus in Medford, MA, to learn, network, and collaborate while engaging in interactive experiences, workshops, and social activities focused on a key topic of interest and relevance to tech leaders. Students who live within commuting distance also have the option to enroll in in-person elective courses offered on Tufts University’s campus.

The flexibility and convenience you need.

Optimize your time: It’s not always easy or possible to attend in-person classes regularly. Whether you live far from campus, frequently travel for business, or face other time constraints, our program allows you to study when and where it’s convenient for you. Choose to begin your MSEM experience during spring or fall semesters.

Balance your education, career, and budget:  You have the flexibility to set your own personalized pace of study as you move through the program. Earn your degree in as little as 2 years or take up to 5 years to spread out the course load and tuition cost.

Customize your program of study: Choose from a wide range of electives offered by Tufts Gordon Institute and Tufts University. Bundle your electives to build depth of knowledge in areas like product management, business analytics, supply chain, and operations, or select a diverse set of electives to develop breadth in a range of topics.

A digital-first, forward-thinking curriculum.

Our MSEM features a digital-first approach because the world is increasingly tech-driven and reliant on digital interactions in all aspects of work and life. To be successful, leaders must be highly skilled in navigating across digital and physical boundaries.

We built a contemporary, relevant curriculum on a foundation of high-quality, interactive, and collaborative online learning so that you will be prepared for the challenges and opportunities presented by the new world of work.

Through a series of 7-week short courses taught by industry-expert faculty, you'll develop the critical competencies of strategic thinking, data-driven decision-making, leadership ability, and business knowledge - competencies critical for success throughout your career.

Prefer to ease into a master's degree program?

If you're not quite ready to enroll in a master's program, we recommend you consider our other programs, like our Data Analytics for Managers MasterTrack Certificate or individual for-credit courses via Courses at Tufts.

Tufts University's Courses at Tufts program offers students the ability to gain new skills & knowledge right when they want it. Many of our short 7-week courses from the MSEM program are available without enrolling in the full degree program. If you do decide to later apply to the master's program, you are eligible to transfer up to two Gordon Institute courses to fulfill the requirements for the degree.
