Tufts Gordon Institute Forms Industry Advisory Council

Technology leaders illuminate global need for engineering leadership

Tufts Gordon Institute has formed an Industry Advisory Council (IAC) to serve as a forum for communication between the Institute and the technology industry. Comprised of senior leaders from a variety of companies and organizations, the advisory council will enable members to foster engineering leadership as well as provide guidance on the continued evolution of Tufts Gordon Institute’s flagship M.S. in Engineering Management (MSEM) program.

“The mission of our MSEM program is to prepare engineers, scientists and technical professionals to think strategically and develop ideas that will have a broader impact on the world,” said Rob Hannemann, director of Tufts Gordon Institute. “This council will not only provide us with an opportunity to better understand industry needs, it will help us advocate the critical need for engineering leaders who can address today’s pressing challenges and invigorate the innovation economy.”

“Leadership and business skills coupled with an engineering or science background is a powerful combination for companies seeking competitive solutions,” said John Dowdle, IAC member and vice president of engineering at Draper Laboratory. “Participating in this advisory committee is one way for industry to invest in the future of technically-savvy individuals.”

Members of the council will consult with Tufts Gordon Institute on issues including:

Continued improvements to the M.S. in Engineering Management curriculum.
Developing new campus-based and executive education programs, workshops and seminars.
Advancing engineering leadership outreach to individuals working in technology and science fields.
