MSIM Program Increases Flexibility and Launches Certificate Opportunities

MS in Innovation and Management students can tap into one of 13 certificates next fall offered by Tufts School of Engineering to build technical depth at the same time as their master’s degree.

Beginning next fall, MS in Innovation and Management students can earn one of over a dozen graduate certificates offered by Tufts University’s School of Engineering, all with no additional time or tuition required.

“As exemplified by today’s competitive environment, it’s more important than ever to have strong technical know-how coupled with sharp business acumen in order to push society forward,” said Kevin Oye, Executive Director of Tufts Gordon Institute, Director of the MSIM program, and Professor of the Practice. “By leveraging the flexibility of the MSIM curriculum, students will be able to showcase their breadth of expertise, explore their passions, and gain a competitive edge.”

Certificate options include biomedical engineering, civil & environmental engineering, computer science, and more. Students interested in pursuing a certificate will leverage their electives, as well as work with their academic advisor to waive two of the MSIM core courses, to fulfill the certificate’s requirements.

As part of Tufts Gordon Institute’s streamlined application process, prospective students do not need to apply for certificates separately from the MSIM program and can declare their interest after beginning the degree.

“With an unwavering student-first commitment, we are continuously working to provide opportunities for students to maximize their Tufts experience,” said Nancy Buczko, Director of Admissions at Tufts Gordon Institute. “These expanded options will allow our students to develop the in-demand skills of the MSIM while continuing to build the technical expertise they developed during their undergraduate experience, all in just one year.”
