Priority Deadline: January 15, 2025

Regular Deadline: March 15, 2025

Rolling Admissions: March 16 - August 1, 2025

Application Requirements

  • Applicants are required to upload an unofficial (student) copy of transcripts received from each college or university attended where credit was earned toward an undergraduate, graduate, or professional degree.

If you are offered admission and choose to enroll at Tufts, your final, official university transcripts or mark statements must be provided to the Office of Graduate Admissions. If your degree is not posted on your transcript, you must also submit a certified copy of your degree certificate or diploma. These materials must be sent directly from the institution to Tufts; students cannot submit their transcripts on their own behalf. Admitted applicants who do not provide final transcripts will not be allowed to enroll. Please note: Tufts University recommends submitting your transcripts at least four weeks before the start of the semester.

Physical transcripts should be sent to:

    Office of Graduate Admissions
    Tufts University
    2 The Green, Bendetson Hall
    Medford, MA 02155

Electronic transcripts should be sent to: gradadmissions@tufts.edu

  • A current résumé that outlines your employment and academic history.

  • The letters should be from individuals who can make specific comments on your performance in the workplace. It is preferable for your current supervisor to complete one of the recommendations.

  • All applicants must submit a 600-800 word essay in response to the following prompt:

    • Paint a vivid picture of a real-world scenario from your professional or academic cohort experience where you found yourself yearning for the skills you hope to gain from the Master of Science Engineering Management program at Tufts Gordon Institute.
  • Tufts Gordon Institute believes that the quality of the applicant's academic record, work experience and letters of recommendation are the best indicators of potential for success in this program. However, if you have previously taken the GRE or GMAT, you do have the option to submit your scores as part of your application for admission.

    • For the GRE: The Tufts University code number is 3901.
    • For the GMAT: The Tufts University code number is 7JB-8M-98.
  • The application fee of $85 is payable through the online application by credit card or e-check, and is not refundable. The fee is waived for the following groups through the use of a fee waiver obtained from Tufts Gordon Institute admissions.

  • Although interviews are not required, you may be asked to participate in one (either in-person or virtually) after the admissions committee has conducted an initial review of your completed application. In these cases, you will be contacted directly by a member of our admissions team to schedule your interview.

  • For the MSEM program, you are required to take the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), the International English Language Testing System (IELTS), or the Duolingo English Test if you are either:

    1. An international resident located in the US (e.g. an H1B visa holder or the spouse of a US citizen holding an immigrant visa) and you are not a native English speaker

    2. An international resident who does not meet one of the criteria required to obtain a waiver

A minimum score of 100 on the Internet-based TOEFL, with subscores of 25 on each of the four components (reading, writing, listening, speaking) is generally considered evidence of sufficient English language ability for graduate study at Tufts Gordon Institute. Equivalent scores of 7 on the IELTS (with subscores of 7) are also considered indications of sufficient ability. We suggest that you take the required standardized test at least one month before the admissions deadline, however, we can be flexible on a case-by-case basis.

If an applicant meets certain criteria, the TOEFL, IELTS, or Duolingo English Test is not required. Permanent residents and green card holders are not required to submit TOEFL scores. Please view additional details on the Graduate Admissions website. Please note that work experience in the US does not qualify you for a TOEFL waiver.

For TOEFL scores: The Tufts University school code number is 3901.
