MSEM Program Enrollment Up 44%

Combined with returning, 2nd year students the total 2015-16 enrollment for the MSEM program is 152 students from 81 companies.

In August, Tufts Gordon Institute faculty and staff welcomed 89 new M.S. in Engineering Management students who make up the class of 2017. This includes the 23 individuals who make up the Saturday cohort, a new option offered for the first time this year. Combined with returning, 2nd year students the total 2015-16 enrollment for the MSEM program is 152 students from 81 companies. This represents a 44 percent increase in new first year students and a 17 percent increase in total student enrollment.

The Institute’s increased brand recognition is evidenced in the 79 percent increase in inquires as compared to last year. The institute saw a 47 percent increase in applicants, enabling the admissions committee to maintain its selectivity.

The admissions committee was also pleased to see an increase in the percentage of female (36%) and international (19%) students. The students are from a wide range of backgrounds and companies including: AbbVie Bioresearch, BAE Systems, Biogen Idec, Bose Corporation, Cubist Pharmaceuticals, Dow Chemical, Draper Laboratory, EMC, GE, Genzyme, Google, Instrumentation Lab, iRobot, Keurig, Merck Research, Natick Research RD&E, Pfizer, Raytheon, Shire, and Weston & Sampson.

Top industries represented for the incoming class include: biopharma/medical devices (32%); defense/aerospace (22%); nonprofit (8%); civil/environmental/energy (7%), computer hardware/software (7%) and chemicals/materials (7%).
