Tufts Gordon Institute Welcomes Incoming MSIM Cohort at Fall 2023 Orientation

This year’s MS in Innovation & Management cohort is the largest yet, full of students eager to find new ways to have a positive impact on the world.

We welcomed this year’s MS in Innovation & Management (MSIM) cohort to Tufts Gordon Institute (TGI) during our Fall 2023 Orientation! We are so excited to welcome our largest MSIM cohort ever, made up of a diverse group of purpose-driven innovators from around the world, including countries such as China, India, Haiti, Greece, and more. All of our incoming students are full of energy and a desire to learn as much as they can during their time in the MSIM program.

Let’s take a look at a how our newest students kicked off the semester:

Students fill the "Wall of Worry" with the biggest challenges facing the world today

Innovation is all about tackling existing problems in new ways, and Innovation Sprints are a chance for students to explore and actualize innovative solutions to problems that matter to them. The process of innovation begins as early as Orientation for MSIM students, during the “Wall of Worry” exercise in which students fill poster boards with examples of some of the toughest challenges facing the world right now.

MS in Innovation & Management alumni speak with incoming students about innovation and entrepreneurship opportunities at Tufts

Entering a new graduate program can be daunting, but luckily our alumni are happy to help incoming students prepare for their new educational adventure! MSIM alumni met with incoming students to share what they learned during their time in the program, as well as advice for how to get the most out of their time at Tufts!

Incoming MS in Innovation & Management students talked about their aspirations for the program during a social hour

One of the most exciting parts of starting a graduate program at TGI is meeting new people united by a common interest in solving the world’s toughest problems. Incoming students had plenty of opportunities to socialize with each other, ask additional questions to alumni, and meet TGI faculty and staff.

Here’s what some of our incoming MSIM students are looking forward to during their time in the program:

Christina Martell, MSIM ‘24

“I came to this program after three years in the corporate world. I did not think I was going to go back to school, but I was curious about learning again. And I feel like when I got here today, I was excited to be a part of such a supportive group.”

Henry Scherb, MSIM ‘24

“My first impression of the MSIM is that it’s a really diverse group of people with lots of different ideas floating around. I’m excited to see how everyone in the cohort puts their ideas into action this year.”

Shikha Mimani, MSIM ‘24

“In my first day here at Tufts, I’ve already learned to step out of my comfort zone, and with that I think I am going to learn a lot more over this next year.”
