The Tufts University Student Determined to Democratize Education

Sagar desires to bring the world’s top students together

Where Sharad Vivek Sagar grew up in India, 84 percent of people are living below the poverty line. Education, a vehicle meant to drive individuals toward success, was failing. At 13 years old, however, a homeschooled Sagar was determined to transform the ailing system.

Sagar, now a Tufts University sophomore, has helped more than 100,000 young people through Dexterity Global’s three platforms: DexChallenge, DexGlobe and DexSchool.

DexChallenge was the company’s initial platform, fueled by Sagar’s desire to bring the world’s top students together into an arena where they could compete. During the full-day inter-school event, high schoolers are run through 10 competitions, including quizzes, painting, dance, entrepreneurship, branding and diplomacy. Sagar’s own idea has morphed into an award-winning reality. Dexterity Global won $15,000 in cash and kind services in this year’s Tufts $100K Business Plan Competition, and was named one of the Rockefeller Foundation’s “100 Most Innovative Social Enterprises for the Next Century.”
